City plans workshop on Green Communities Act

The Mayor's Energy Advisory Committee will conduct a workshop on the Green Communities Act at its Feb. 25 meeting. The city's recycling coordinator Molly Ettenborough said the workshop is to create an action plan for Newburyport to become a green community under the provisions of the act.

Green Home Expo coming to Portsmouth

Waterline installs solar system for corporate HQ

WaterlineSolarPanelsSeabrook, NH - Waterline Industries Corporation has installed an American-made solar system to its corporate headquarters in Seabrook, NH. Completed in December, the installation was conducted by Waterline's Alternative Energies affiliate staff of electricians and installers. To build the system, two eleven-foot pole mounts – supplied by Power-Fab of New Mexico – were ground-mounted at the headquarters location, with 6 panels connected on each. The total solar array of each pole stands at 15 feet tall.

Expired tax credit looms over biofuels

Clean_fuelThe future of biofuels, fuels derived from plants or food waste, is up in the air after a federal tax credit of $1 per gallon paid to manufacturers expired at the end of last year. But Congress is likely to extend the tax credit (if so it will be retroactive to Jan. 1) , and Massachusetts may mandate the use of more biofuels by this summer.
