It's hip, it's heady and it's happening here in Newburyport. For many years, Joy McFarland dreamed of opening a champagne bar, one in which her expertise with essential oils came into play. On May 1, when Tea Noir opened in the Garrison Inn, McFarland, the general manager there, saw her dream come true.





Due to popular demand, a rich chocolate layer cake filled and topped with a tangy cream cheese frosting has returned to the Alden Merrell Retail and Outlet Store in Newburyport after more than eight years.
When Newburyport resident Penny Lazarus posted on her Facebook wall that her husband, Josh Faigen, would be the guest chef at Mad Martha’s Beach Café on Plum Island the following weekend, the immediate assumption was that Faigen is a chef. But he’s not – he is a good home cook of the kind that Mad Martha's welcomes in once a month for Guest Chef Night.
Newburyport since last fall has had two different places to go for raw food – the Revitalive Café in The Tannery Marketplace and Grezzo on State Street downtown. One is a take-out café and the other is an upscale sit-down restaurant.
